ROSARIO IS CHOSEN AS THE HOST CITY FOR THE 2029 PAN AMERICAN JUNIOR GAMES

The city won by 29 votes to 24 over Guatemala in the election held at the Panam Sports General Assembly in Lima, Peru. On this day, the continent’s representatives to the ANOC Executive Council were also elected, with Renzo Manyari of Peru, María José Alcalá of Mexico, and Alicia Masoni de Morea of Argentina emerging as the winners.

On the second day of the 64th Panam Sports General Assembly, important elections for the Pan American Olympic Movement took place.
|
The first election of the day determined the three Panam Sports members for the Executive Council of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC).
|
The winners were Renzo Manyari of Peru, María José Alcalá of México, and Alicia Masoni de Morea of Argentina.
|

“Thank you so much to all the Olympic Committees of the Americas for having entrusted me with the vote, I reaffirm my commitment to work for each of you,” said Renzo Manyari, President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee. “And in that sense, this means, I think, one more step towards learning to walk life together and to live for others and for others. Thank you.”

“Well, for me it’s a huge triumph because I believe that one can transcend commissions, transcend other things and really be useful for the continent,” said Alicia Morea, Vice President of the Argentine Olympic Committee. “I think that representing the Americas is a proud honor. I believe that we need strong people to be beside President Neven Ilic and to support him and all of his decisions. Now ANOC will have a new direction, a new point of view, well, you have to be there,” Morea continued. “You have to feel that America is important. And thank you to those who voted for me and those who did not vote for me. Because I respect that everyone can have their point of view, their preferences, or have their groups that they do not want to offend. But anyway, I am for everyone and equality.”

The second vote determined the host city for the upcoming 2029 Junior Pan American Games. Guatemala City and Rosario, Argentina, were in the running.

Both candidate cities made their presentations to the General Assembly, highlighting their strengths, their commitment, their infrastructure, and why they should be chosen to host the continent’s most important multisport event for young people.

The 41 member countries of Panam Sports selected Rosario as the host city for the 2029 Junior Pan American Games.
|
For the first time, the city of Rosario will host this sporting event, which is expected to bring together more than 3,000 athletes from our region.

The second and final day of the Panam Sports Assembly also featured a presentation by the Lima 2027 Organizing Committee. Led by its President, Oscar Fernandez, the committee presented all the progress made and the work currently underway, with 329 days remaining until the Games.
|

With the ANOC Executive Council elections completed and Rosario confirmed as host of the 2029 Pan American Junior Games, the 64th Panam Sports General Assembly closed having addressed both the movement’s continental representation and the future of its premier youth event. From site visits to meaningful discussions and presentations, this productive Panam Sports Week in Lima — capped by the Lima 2027 update — reaffirmed the region’s unity and momentum as it heads into a busy multi-year cycle of Olympic sport across the Americas.
