ALDANA TAKES GOLD FOR GUATEMALA IN WOMEN’S GOLF

Guatemalan Elzbieta Aldana was crowned champion in the women’s individual golf event at the 2025 ASU Junior Pan American Games after completing three solid rounds on the course.

With a cumulative score of 224 (+8), she showed poise and consistency to secure the gold medal, capping a tournament that closed strongly in the third round (73, +1), allowing her to distance herself from her rivals.

At the end of the competition, Aldana expressed her surprise and excitement at the victory: “It was very exciting and unexpected. I thought I was only going to win the silver medal, but it was a huge upswing,” said the Guatemalan, still moved by her achievement. She also highlighted the difficulty of the intense winds recorded this morning in Paraguay: “The weather was very difficult due to the strong winds; that was the most challenging factor.”

The silver medal went to Peruvian Ariana Urrea, who totaled 229 strokes (+13). Urrea remained in the fight until the end, especially after a strong start in the first round (74, +2), although the final round left her with no chance of catching Aldana.

The podium was completed by Paraguayan Victoria Livieres, who with a score of 230 (+14) took bronze. The local golfer, who had already won silver in the mixed team category, thus earned her second medal at these Games, confirming her strong performance and bringing another joy to the Paraguayan public.

The final of these II Junior Pan American Games was a display of perseverance and character, with Aldana writing a golden page for Guatemala, Urrea demonstrating the growth of Peruvian golf, and Livieres reaffirming Paraguayan talent at the regional level.
