KARATE AT ASU 2025 CULMS WITH GOLD FOR ARGENTINA AND NICARAGUA

On the final day of the II Junior Pan American Games Asu 2025, karate had a day marked by excitement, with the men’s and women’s finals. This discipline closed in spectacular fashion, with gold medals for Nicaragua’s Joysi Tinaco and Argentina’s Juan Gallardo.

In the men’s -60 kg category, Argentina’s Juan Gallardo was crowned Pan American champion after showing authority in each bout, taking the gold medal. “I can’t wait to get home and hug my parents. I dedicate this medal to my family,” declared the young champion through tears, visibly moved.

The silver medal went to Venezuela’s Sebastián Chirinos, while the bronze medals went to Hermes Moreno of Peru and Jean Dorta of the United States.

In the women’s -50 kg category, Nicaraguan Joysi Tinaco made history by winning the gold medal. The athlete demonstrated character and strength throughout the tournament, even after losing a qualifying bout to Colombian Angélica Ospina.

“It’s a huge thrill. I spent a year training to reach my goal, which was gold, and I achieved it. It’s the best thing that could have happened to me. I dedicate this medal to my parents, friends, and those who trained with me to get me here,” the Central American champion proudly expressed.

The silver medal went to Venezuela’s Ana Vásquez, while the bronze medals went to Ospina of Colombia and Melani Unzueta of Bolivia.

With these finals, karate officially concluded its participation in Asu 2025, leaving a backdrop of intense combat, great emotions, and a clear message that the new generations are already making their mark on the Pan American stage.
