For the first time a Canadian team will compete in the Olympic Games in 3×3 Basket. The North Americans had a great tournament only losing against Spain and defining their tickets to France with a victory over Hungary.

The Pre-Olympic Championship was broadcast in its entirety on the Panam Sports Channel.

Celebrate all of Canada. After a spectacular pre-Olympic tournament, the 3×3 team won one of the 3 places distributed in this last qualifying event for the Paris Olympic Games.

The Canadians had a great start, managing to win all 3 games in the group stage. They began their participation by beating Team Chile 21-11, then they beat Lithuania 19-16 and finished the first phase by defeating Czechia 17-10, winning group B with a superlative level.

In the 4th finals they faced Italy and again Canada’s overwhelming play allowed them to win by a resounding 21-8 with Crozon and Katherine Plouffe as the great figures of the match.

In the semifinals, no matter how hard they fought, they couldn’t beat the Spanish team and in a very disputed match they lost by only one point. (19-18)

However, all was not lost, and they knew that the match with powerful Hungary would be key for Canada’s hopes of qualifying for Paris.

In the decisive duel, Canada knew how to impose its game, and with concentration and great effectiveness under the basket, they easily beat Hungary by a resounding 21-10, qualifying for the Olympic event next July for the first time in history.

Thus, the team of Paige Crozon, Kacie Bosch, Katherine Plouffe, Michelle Plouffe and the substitute Cassandra Brown, achieve their great goal of representing their country in Paris 2024 and add to the great triumphs they have had as consecutive champions of the Series. FIBA Women’s 3×3, AmeriCup 2022 champions and World Cup 2022 silver medalists.

“We are very grateful, our team has a lot of joy and gratitude to be here. We believed. There are no easy games here, Hungary is a great team,” said Katherine Plouffe after the victory over Hungary and their qualification for the Olympic Games.
