With the Wanda Diamond League Final in Brussels now just weeks away, three of the circuit’s most storied meetings — Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich — arrive in rapid succession to decide who books their place among the world’s best on September 4-5. These are the last real opportunities for athletes to earn ranking points, chase season bests, and settle scores before the season climax, and the fields assembled for all three stops are as loaded as any this year.

The Diamond League returns to Lausanne’s Stade Olympique de la Pontaise for the 12th leg of the season, one of only three meetings left before Brussels. Pole vault action actually gets underway a day earlier at a special city-center event on the shores of Lake Geneva, headlined by world record holder Armand “Mondo” Duplantis, before the main program takes over the stadium on Friday.

The track promises fireworks: Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles steps in for his favored 200m, while Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson also lines up in the women’s 200m. The men’s 800m is loaded with Marco Arop andBrandon Miller, and Olympic hurdles champion Masai Russell looks to extend her dominant season in the 100m hurdles. Switzerland’s own Audrey Werro, fresh off a European title, will try to build on a breakout year in the women’s 800m against Femke Broeders-Bol and world champion Lilian Odira.

In the field, Olympic long jump champion Miltiadis Tentoglou faces home favorite Simon Ehammer and Mattia Furlani, while the javelin throw features a stacked entry list led by season leader Rumesh Pathirage, European champion Julian Weber, and two-time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra, who is chasing his first title since mid-2025. Distance fans should watch the women’s 3000m steeplechase, where Olympic champion Winfred Yavi is still hunting her first Diamond League win of the year against reigning champion Faith Cherotich.

Kamila Skolimowska Memorial – Silesia (Chorzów), Poland

Just two days after Lausanne, the circuit heads straight to Chorzów’s Silesian Stadium for the 13th leg — one of the last chances to qualify for Brussels. Some field disciplines, including the men’s high jump and women’s long jump and shot put, actually begin a day early on August 22, with the marquee program following on the 23rd.

The women’s 100m is shaping up as one of the races of the year: Olympic champion Julien Alfred and world champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden headline a field that also includes Sha’Carri Richardson, Shericka Jackson and Elaine Thompson-Herah — four of the current world top six in the same race. Alison Dos Santos and Karsten Warholm renew their rivalry in the men’s 400m hurdles, and Botswana’s Busang Collen Kebinatshipi headlines the flat 400m.

Olympic steeplechase champion Soufiane El Bakkali, who has already posted the world’s fastest time this season, returns to defend his form, while 400m star Marileidy Paulino — unbeaten for much of 2026 — looks to add to a string of meeting records. Mondo Duplantis makes his fifth straight appearance at Silesia in the pole vault, world record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh takes on Hamish Kerr and Gianmarco Tamberi’s rival high jump fields, and new 110m hurdles world record holder Ja’Kobe Tharp continues his campaign on the track.

Weltklasse Zürich – Zurich, Switzerland

The season’s penultimate stop returns to Zurich for its 14th leg, with the traditional women’s pole vault city-center event at Zurich’s main train station kicking things off on August 26 before the full program unfolds at Letzigrund Stadium on the 27th.

Home fans will be out in force for Audrey Werro, the reigning Diamond League 800m champion, who takes on Olympic and world champion Keely Hodgkinson in what could be the showdown of the meeting. Jakob Ingebrigtsen makes his first Diamond League appearance since 2024 in the 1500m, lining up against world champion Isaac Nader, Olympic champion Cole Hocker and Olympic bronze medalist Yared Nuguse in a field billed as one of the deepest of the year. Simon Ehammer and Ditaji Kambundji, both in career-best form, headline the home charge in the long jump and 100m hurdles respectively.

As the last major tune-up before Brussels, expect a flurry of season bests and last-ditch pushes for ranking points from athletes still on the qualification bubble for the Final.
