VENEZUELA CELEBRATES A NEW QUALIFICATION FOR PARIS 2024

On the first day of competition, the Venezuelan athlete Katherin Echandia achieved an outstanding participation in her 49 kgs category, achieving sixth place in the competition by lifting 85 kilograms in the snatch, 108 in the clean and jerk and achieving an Olympic total of 193 kilos.

The winner was the North Korean Ri Song Gum who achieved a spectacular record of 97 kilos in the snatch, 124 in the clean and jerk and an Olympic total of 221. The silver medal went to the Chinese Hou Zhihui (97-120-217) and third place and Also from China, Jiang Huihua with 94-114 and 208 total.

With the results of the women’s 49kg category, America celebrated the classification of Katherine Echandia and the Dominican and three-time Olympian, Beatriz Pirón.
