The ribbon is cut on the Field Hockey Training and Competition Center located in the National Stadium Sports Park. <\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

“This is a dream come true,\u201d said both players and coaches about the two world-class fields.<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n

SANTIAGO, CHILE (March 3, 2022) <\/b>\u2014<\/strong> The long-awaited Field Hockey Training and Competition Center was inaugurated today at the National Stadium Sports Park with the presence of government and sports authorities and all of the men’s and women’s players of the Chilean field hockey teams. The first venue is now complete and delivered for its use during the upcoming Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.<\/p>\n

The sports complex features two fields of the highest level and professional lighting that cost slightly more than USD $8 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese fields were justified and necessary for a sport that has given our country great satisfaction. I am proud that we are meeting the deadlines so that in just 19 months we will receive more than 10,000 athletes at the great sports festival of the Pan American and Parapan American Games of Santiago 2023,\u201d said Chilean Sports Minister, Cecilia Perez.<\/p>\n

The athletes and coaches fought hard to finally have fields where they could train at the national team level. Their happiness was evident after cutting the ribbon to officially inaugurate the sports facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a magical moment. It\u2019s wonderful for the entire sports family and for our hockey family. We want to thank all of the people who trusted in us and our players to be able to fulfill this dream of having our own home,\u201d said an emotional Sergio \u201cCachito\u201d Vigil, head coach of the Chilean National Team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so proud, this was unthinkable. It really is a dream come true to have your own home. The courts are of excellent quality, the ball runs fast, the infrastructure is very good. Very nice challenges are coming and before we had to rent a field, so now we have our own field and that is very helpful,\u201d said men\u2019s team captain Fernando Renz.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe facilities are first class and we are very grateful. We had been working on this for a long time and we finally achieved it. We couldn’t be happier,\u201d said a joyful Constanza Palma.<\/p>\n

After the traditional ribbon cutting, a friendly match was held with two mixed teams between the men\u2019s and women\u2019s players who form the \u201cDiablos\u201d and \u201cDiablas\u201d. Both teams recently qualified for the Field Hockey World Cup in India and of course aim to make the podium at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.<\/p>\n
