In a ceremony at the Government Palace of Asuncion attended by Paraguay’s President Mario Abdo, the Host City Contract was officially signed making Asuncion the organizers of the II Junior Pan American Games in 2025.
ASUNCION, PARAGUAY (March 15, 2023) — Early this morning at the Government Palace in Asuncion, the dreams of many Paraguayan athletes and sports fans came true with the official signing of the Host City Contract to stage the world’s largest and most important multisport event for young athletes — the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Paraguay Mario Abdo, Panam Sports President Neven Ilic, Paraguay Sports Minister Diego Galeano, Paraguayan Olympic Committee President Camilo Perez and prominent athletes including the silver medalist at the South American Games in heptathlon, Camila Pirelli — known as the “Guarani Panther” — who also received her sports scholarship from the National Sports Secretary during the event.
“For me it is a tremendous honor to be here today in Asuncion, Paraguay for the momentous occasion of signing the agreement for the organization of the Junior Pan American Games. I want to sincerely thank the President of the Republic, the Minister of Sports and the President of the NOC of Paraguay, Camilo Perez, for his passion and commitment to this youth sports festival of the Americas. I am sure that, like the 2022 South American Games, this event will be very successful and will mark a before and after in the sporting history of Paraguay,” said Panam Sports President Neven Ilic.
“The South American Games were a very important change for all of us, since we realized and were able to show the world that Paraguay can organize sporting events. And now we are going to experience something much bigger with the 2025 Junior Pan American Games, so I am very proud of my country,” added the heptathlete Camila Pirelli.
The Asuncion 2025 Junior Pan American Games are expected to feature more than 4,500 athletes from 41 countries competing in more than 20 sports that will be spread across three different sports parks in the Paraguayan capital.
