EXPERT CONNECTION: MENTAL TOUGHNESS AND THE POWER OF BREATH

The groundbreaking series designed to help athletes navigate their athletic careers, particularly during times of uncertainty, returns this Thursday, June 11 with an exciting edition focused on strengthening the mind and practical breathing exercises.

This useful session of Expert Connection for athletes of all levels will be led by 2012 Olympian and three-time Canadian National Champion in Beach Volleyball, Martin Reader, live on the Panam Sports Channel this Thursday at 5pm ET.

Preparing to compete on the biggest stages in the world of sport is not only a matter of training your body to realize its maximum potential, but also a matter of training your mind to overcome the challenges that you will inevitably face.

To help athletes overcome these challenges, Panam Sports is proud to welcome Martin Reader as the next guest on the Expert Connection series presented by the Panam Sports Channel. Martin is an Olympian, three-time National Champion in Canada and two-time NORCECA Continental Champion in Beach Volleyball and now works as a Certified Personal Trainer.

Following his successful career on the international circuit, Martin turned his focus to developing a career emphasizing movement, philosophy and performance. In addition to being the 2016 Canadian Trainer of the Year and a Nike fitness trainer, Martin is a wellness speaker and is certified in Functional Range Conditioning and beyond.

During the live session, Martin will provide tips and strategies on how to stay mentally strong on and off the field of play, using a philosophical approach backed by scientific research. As always during the Expert Connection, Martin will then respond to your questions sent through the registration and during the live session using the chat feature of the Panam Sports Channel.

To conclude this beneficial conversation, Martin will lead everyone who is watching through a 15-minute breath work session that will provide useful strategies to control breathing that can be used before and during training or competitions.
