EXPERT CONNECTION: #WhatNow? FORMER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP MEDALISTS SHARE THEIR LIFE AFTER SPORT EXPERIENCE
Former Captain of Los Pumas and current Vice President of World Rugby, Agustín Pichot, and former Modern Pentathlon World Champion and current President of the Mexican Baseball League, Horacio de la Vega, will be the next two stars to join the “Expert Connection” this Thursday at 4pm ET live on the Panam Sports Channel.
In times of quarantine and confinement, many athletes spend their free time thinking about their future. Not only in regard to their sporting careers, but also what they will do once they leave high-performance sport.
The percentage of athletes who have dedicate themselves entirely to sport and have stopped studying or postponed their education is very high throughout the continent. The hours of preparation, training, championships and world circuits during the Olympic cycle often do not allow athletes to be able to both compete and receive a higher education, thus leading to difficulties after retiring from sport.
Panam Sports wants to help athletes in this crucial area through the next edition of the “Expert Connection” series on Thursday, May 7 that will feature two tremendous former athletes: Agustín Pichot from Argentina and Horacio de la Vega from Mexico. These two professionals are recognized worldwide and will share their vast experience to help guide athletes and the entire Pan American Family on how to compliment an athletic career with an education, as well as how to face the difficult path of retirement and what to do once they leave sport.
Agustín Pichot is a former rugby player of the Argentina National Team, an icon and historical captain of “Los Pumas” who won a bronze medal at the 2007 World Championships in France. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Brunel University in London and is currently the President of Pegsa Group (Audiovisual Production Company for Entertainment and Sports), President of Fortescue Metals Group South America Division and Vice President of World Rugby, among other roles.
Horacio de la Vega is a former World Champion in Modern Pentathlon and an Olympian who competed in the Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000 Summer Games. He graduated from TEC de Monterrey with an MBA and a Master from the IOC Memos program. He was the Commercial and Marketing Director of the Guadalajara 2011 Pan Am Games and the joint Mexico/USA/Canada bid for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, and has also served as the General Director of the Institute of Sport in Mexico. Currently, he is the President of the Mexican Baseball League.
The moderator for this unmissable conversation will be a great friend and acquaintance of our guests, none other than Ivar Sisniega, the Secretary General of Panam Sports and Olympian in Modern Pentathlon.
This exciting edition of “Expert Connection” will be shown live on the Panam Sports Channel this Thursday, May 7 at the following times:
MEXICO: 3:00 pm
