The dream of hosting the first Pan American Games in Chile is one step closer to being realized following the initiation of the tender process for the Pan American Village of Santiago 2023.

The Organizing Committee of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games completed its first major milestone on July 22, announcing the launch of the bidding process to construct the highly-anticipated Pan American Village.

A collaboration agreement was signed between the Minister of Sport, Cecilia Perez, the Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Felipe Ward as well as the Santiago 2023 Executive Director Felipe De Pablo and other community leaders. The agreement initiated the tender for the largest construction project of these Games.

The future home of more than 6,000 athletes will be the epicenter of the Pan Am Games and the starting point for athletes from all 41 nations of the Pan American Family as they begin their journey to compete on the biggest sporting stage in the Americas.

Located in the community of Cerillos, Santiago with majestic views of the Andes mountains, this vital legacy project will not only be the home for more than 10,000 people during the Pan Am and Parapan Am Games, but it will be converted into much-needed social housing that will undoubtedly benefit the community.

The village will feature green and recreational spaces for the athletes and officials and will be connected to the main highways of Santiago. It is located right next to the the Metro and just 15 minutes from the city center. The village will span 6 hectares and will include 1,137 apartments to house the athletes, technical personnel and authorities.

“The construction of this Villa will give jobs to many Chilean families and will be part of the economic revival that we need so much. We are sure that it will advance at a steady pace to become a benefit for all. I invite you to feel this same joy that fills my heart, because it is the initial milestone of the Games, because we want these Games to be a meeting place for all, a time for our country free of friction and conflict, because that it is what sport can achieve and above all, because the Games will belong to all Chileans,” said Santiago 2023 Executive Director, Felipe De Pablo.

The winner of this tender process will be announced in December.
