The Pan American Qualifying Tournament for Taekwondo at Santiago 2023 will be live streamed on the Panam Sports Channel March 23 and March 26.

Taekwondo athletes are ready to compete for their qualification in the Kyorugui events at the continent’s most important multisport event — the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

The Pan American Qualifying Tournament is being held in Rio de Janeiro in the Carioca 1 Arena, the venue that hosted basketball, wrestling and weightlifting at the 2016 Olympic Games.

The qualification tournament for the Parapan American Games concluded on March 22, with the qualification events for the Pan American Games taking place on Thursday, March 23. All of the action from the Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament will be streamed live on the Panam Sports Channel for free throughout the world.

The top 12 athletes in the women’s weight classes of -49kg, -57kg and -67kg and the men’s weight classes of -58kg, -68kg and -80kg will all earn their qualification to Santiago 2023 this October. The top 10 athletes in the women’s +67kg and men’s +80kg competitions will also qualify to the Pan American Games.

The champions of the respective Kyorugui events at the Cali 2021 Junior Pan American Games have already qualified to Santiago 2023 and await the results of the tournament in Brazil.

The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the recently added Team Kyorugui event that will make its Pan American Games debut at Santiago 2023. Countries that have three or more qualifiers in the individual weight classes will also earn qualification to the Team Kyorugui event at Santiago 2023.

The action continues on Sunday, March 26 when the PanAm Series II competition will be held in the same venue as the qualifying tournament. The full day of action will also be broadcast live on the Panam Sports Channel.
