Women played a leading role in ASU 2025. Not only because of the historic number of participants, with more than 2,000 athletes and 51% of the total, but also because of the results obtained in this continental competition. Here we showcase the women who shone in team sports and who are deserving of the 2025 Panam Sports Junior Awards in the “Best Women’s Team” category.
We have been voting for exactly 8 days, with thousands of people participating in these 2025 Panam Sports Awards. And one of the most striking and competitive categories in the election is “Best Women’s Team.”
Five countries are vying for the grand prize: Brazil with two teams, Handball and Volleyball; Argentina with the unstoppable “Leoncitas” Hockey team; Chile with its surprising Rowing team; Colombia with its spectacular Track Cycling quartet; and the queens of the 100 meters in athletics, Team Jamaica.
The latter two teams, in addition to winning gold medals in their respective disciplines, broke the Pan American Junior Games record.
All of them deserve this award, but only one women’s team will win the recognition on December 22.
These are the nominated teams and their main attributes:
BEST WOMEN’S TEAM
Brazil Volleyball
The Brazilian volleyball team showed no mercy to their rivals, winning every match in the competition with an outstanding performance. They defeated Mexico, Chile, and the Dominican Republic, losing only two sets, and in the grand final, they beat Mexico with a resounding 3-0 victory. A well-deserved medal and qualification for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
Team Chile Rowing
In recent years, Team Chile has become a true powerhouse in Pan American rowing. “Las Leoncitas” once again demonstrated their power in Pan American field hockey. With Olympic medalists in their ranks, Argentina had a perfect campaign at ASU2025, winning all five of their matches. They defeated Uruguay, Canada, Paraguay, Chile, and the United States. In total, they scored 28 goals and conceded only one, reflecting the supremacy of this great team.
