The world of international and Olympic sport is more competitive than ever, and the competition for fans and sponsors is even greater. Learn what it takes to stand out from the crowd in the next edition of Expert Connection live this Thursday at 5pm (ET), only on the Panam Sports Channel.

Two leaders from CONCACAF, Heidi Pellerano and Jason Roberts, are joining the program to help athletes build their personal brands and begin their careers outside of sport.

The athlete of today is busier than ever before, often balancing intense training and competition schedules with an education, personal life and navigating the difficult worlds of social media and sponsorship.

In many Olympic sports, athletic success doesn’t always directly lead to financial success. However, with enough creativity, dedication and perseverance, building your fanbase and becoming a personal brand can be achieved to help athletes in every sport reach new heights.

To help athletes learn what it takes to reach these heights, two leaders with vast experience in the fields of commercial and marketing success are joining the next edition of the Expert Connection series on the Panam Sports Channel – CONCACAF Chief Commercial Officer Heidi Pellerano as well as CONCACAF Director of Development and former English Premier League footballer Jason Roberts.

Heidi Pellerano is the Chief Commercial Officer of CONCACAF with 20+ years experience in sport, marketing & entertainment industry including the WNBA, OnSport and Wasserman Media Group. Heidi joined Concacaf in February 2019 and is responsible for leading the Commercial division, including developing and managing strategic partnerships to maximize commercial opportunities in the areas of Business Development, Partnership Marketing, Digital and Emerging Technologies, Media Distribution, and Broadcast Productions. Prior to Concacaf, Pellerano was an Executive Vice President at Wasserman where she was responsible for leading Wasserman’s brands division and multicultural practice.

Jason Roberts is a former professional footballer from Grenada who played in the English Premier League and has experience as a television sport analyst who also currently serves as the Director of Development for CONCACAF. He joined the organization in November 2017 and focuses on managing and strengthening the Confederation’s core development programs including grassroots, coaching education, and professional football development initiatives. Jason established the Jason Roberts Foundation in 2007, a charitable organization that provides young people opportunities to learn and build confidence through sport in both the UK and the Caribbean. He was also appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2010 for his service to sport and received an Honorary Doctorate from St. George’s University in recognition of his contributions to creating sporting events for disabled children both in Grenada and the UK.
