LIVE SPORT RETURNS TO PANAM SPORTS CHANNEL WITH PAN AMERICAN WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPIONSHIP

Panam Sports Channel is proud to welcome its first live sports event of 2024 following its incredible success in 2023 highlighted by the live broadcast of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.

The Pan American Weightlifting Championship will be live streamed from February 24 to 28 as athletes of the Americas seek to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

SANTIAGO, CHILE (February 20, 2024) — The Panam Sports Channel is excited to start 2024 with the first live sporting event of the new year, the Pan American Weightlifting Championship taking place from February 24-28 in Caracas, Venezuela.

The former host of the 1983 Pan American Games will now welcome the best weightlifters of the Americas as they seek both medals at the continental championship and the opportunity to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The entire championship will be live-streamed for free on the Panam Sports Channel, showcasing the top weightlifters of the Americas on their path to the Olympics in France.

Qualification to Paris 2024 is determined by the worldwide Olympic Ranking, with the ten highest-ranked weightlifters in each weight class as of April 28, 2024 earning a quota for their country.

If an athlete is not within the world’s top 10 in their weight class, the Olympic Continental Qualification Ranking will be used, providing a single quota to the highest-ranked weightlifter representing the NOC whose continent lies outside the top ten of his or her respective weight class.

The Pan American Championship represents the final opportunity to earn qualification points towards the ranking before 2024 IWF World Cup March 31 to April 11 in Phuket, Thailand. All weightlifters must compete at the World Cup to be eligible to qualify to Paris.
