This Tuesday, March 4 begins the “Olympic Sprint Canoeing Development Course” dictated by the Pan American Canoe Confederation (COPAC) and our organization, thus starting the Panam Sports Academy season that comes with many courses and extremely interesting trainings for athletes, coaches and leaders.
Since it was created in 2022, Panam Sports Academy has given more than 10 courses and trainings, achieving more than 1500 students with their certifications.
This 2025 those numbers will increase as there are a series of attractive courses that will be implemented through the platform www.panamsportsacademy.com , helping the sports and professional development of hundreds of people in our continent.
The first course to be taught on our platform, and which marks the beginning of the Panam Sports academic year, will be the “Olympic Sprint Canoeing Development Course” taught by the Pan American Canoe Confederation and aimed at coaches of this sport.
This course, which begins tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4, aims to provide canoeing coaches with fundamental knowledge about initiation into the sport, applied physiology and systematization of training, as well as technical development models specific to kayaking and canoeing, in order to optimize the training and performance of athletes in their different stages of development.
It is an online format and will last 4 months, starting in March and ending in July with a final on-site practice in a place yet to be defined.
“The training of our coaches, athletes and leaders is fundamental for the sports development of our region. That is why in Panam Sports we continue to have as one of our priorities, to organize and dictate courses of interest to our Panamerican Family through the Panam Sports Academy. We hope that every year there will be more and more people enrolled in our training courses,” said Jimena Saldaña, General Secretary of Panam Sports.
“The Olympic Canoeing Development course is the result of a joint work with COPAC (Pan American Canoe Confederation) to support coaches from our continent in their training. It arose from the dialogue with the Confederation and is a way of working that we want to promote. Although in the planning and academic panorama of the Panam Sports Academy we have courses and projects on various topics – professional development of athletes, safe sport, women coaches, training for coaches, mental health and sports medicine – the proposals and vision of the Federations, NOC’s and Confederations are key to carry out projects that respond to specific needs and contexts,” said Emilio Posadas, Academic Coordinator of Panam Sports.
For this year, there are several projects, trainings and courses that will be taught through Panam Sports Academy. For this, the training area of our organization is working hard and closing important agreements with universities and institutes in the region.
“We are excited to start the activities in Panam Sports Academy for 2025. Working together with National Committees, National Federations and Confederations is fundamental to be able to support our athletes and coaches in the best way possible. We invite the Panam Sports community to approach us in order to promote more projects like this one”, concluded Posadas.
