The nine-day training camp held in the Dominican Republic prepared athletes for an upcoming event and their overall careers.
Young judo athletes from 30 countries throughout the Americas are now better prepared to face their competition at upcoming events.
Panam Sports, the Pan American Judo Federation and the Dominican Republic Olympic Committee organized a Training Camp for judokas in the junior category over the past nine days. The camp began on August 29 and concluded on September 6.
Led by top trainers Amadeu de Mora (BRA) and Amarilis Savon (CUB), the 60 athletes at the camp learned new techniques and tactics to help them win more competitions. The camp began with a competition event for each of the athletes and is immediately followed by the Junior Pan American Cup in the capital of Santo Domingo.
Continuing with Panam Sports’ commitment to the health and safety of every athlete, medical and health evaluations were also conducted during the training camp.
Athletes from the following countries participated in the camp: Argentina, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Lucia, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.
“We are sure that this camp will be a great benefit for the countries and athletes in our region,” said Panam Sports Secretary General, Ivar Sisniega.
