PANAM SPORTS CAMP PREPARES YOUNG KARATEKAS FOR ELITE COMPETITIONS

The 10-day training camp held at the Mexican Olympic Committee’s facilities taught athletes how to improve their techniques and prepare for more competitive events.

Young karate athletes from 19 countries throughout the Americas now have new tools to better face their competition in their sport’s most important events.

Panam Sports, the Pan American Karate Federation and the Mexican Olympic Committee organized a Training Camp for karate athletes aged 18 to 21 over the past 10 days. The camp began on August 29 and concludes on September 7.

Led by top trainers Ivan Leal (ESP), Yaser Sahntekin (TUR), Ahmed Solyman (EGY), the 40 athletes at the camp not only learned new techniques and tactics to help them win more competitions, but also received psychological training as they begin to transition to senior level competitions.

Other topics covered during the camp included anti-doping, applied sports sciences and nutrition, among others.

Continuing with Panam Sports’ commitment to the health and safety of every athlete, medical and health evaluations were also conducted during the training camp.

Athletes from the following countries participated in the camp: American Samoa, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela.

“We are sure that this camp will be a great benefit for the countries and athletes in our region,” said Panam Sports Secretary General, Ivar Sisniega.
