Absolutely clear skies and temperatures exceeding 32 degrees were experienced today at the National Stadium Sports Park in Santiago de Chile. Stifling heat, but that was not an impediment for the more than 200 archers from South America to live another day of the South American Archery Championship.

A special day, because today the first finals of this competition in 7 categories in Recurve Archery, Compound Archery and Recurve Archery would take place.

Team Chile was strong at home, winning 2 gold medals by Angel Vega in Recurve U21 and Oscar Verdugo in Compound U18. In addition, the locals won 4 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Argentina, like Chile, also won 2 gold medals. Valentino Lunedei won the U15 Recurve and Carlos Della took the victory in the Recurve Low Archery.

Ecuador was another country that celebrated this day, when Dana Navarrete was crowned in the Compound Archery after an important victory over the Chilean Catalina Perez by 144 to 126. Her compatriot Juan Pablo Peralta won the silver medal in the U21 Recurve.
