KINGSTON DRESSES UP TO HOST THE WORLD’S BEST ATHLETES

A constellation of world athletics greats will gather this weekend in Kingston, Jamaica for the inaugural Grand Slam Track event. More than $12.6 million in prize money will be awarded at the competition, which begins on Friday, April 4 and promises to be spectacular.

Panam Sports will have complete coverage of this event created by Team USA’s Olympic Champion, Michael Johnson.

There are four Grand Slam Tracks in 2025. The first one will be in Kingston, then Miami, continuing in Philadelphia and finishing in Los Angeles, California.

For each event there will be 48 runners, and 48 challengers going for the incredible prize purse.

In total there will be 6 groups of races. Short Springs (100 and 200mts), Long Sprints (200 and 400mts), Short Hurdles (100-110mts hurdles and 100mts flat), Long Hurdles (400mts hurdles and 400mts flat), Short Distance (800mts and 1500mts) and Long Distance (3000mts and 5000mts).

Athletes will compete in both races according to their groups and the sum of the points obtained will determine the places in the final classification. From 1st to 8th place the points per race will be distributed as follows: 12-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.

In the event of a tie for the Slam Champion of a Group, the competitor with the best individual finishing position will win the Slam. If there is still a tie, the lower combined time of each competitor’s two runs will be used to determine the winner.

Based on the accumulation of all points earned in the 4 Grand Slams, it will be determined at the end of the season, who the “Runners of the Year” are.

The winner of each group will win a spectacular US$100,000 and the eighth will win US$10,000.
