MARILEIDY PAULINO AND GABBY THOMAS DUEL AMONG THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE FIRST DAY OF THE GRAND SLAM TRACK

The stars of world athletics are already in the Jamaican capital to participate in this innovative event that distributes more than 12.6 million dollars. Sydney McLaughilin-Levrone, Marileidy Paulino, Gabby Thomas, Alison Dos Santos, Kenneth Bednarek, among others, are the main figures of this celebration of world athletics.

With an entertaining press conference at the AC Hotel in Kingston, the first Grand Slam Track in history was officially kicked off.

One by one the stars walked down an improvised Red Carpet. Thus, we saw Kenny Bednarek showing off the green headband he will wear for the event, or a majestic Gabby Thomas who arrived in a party dress.

Along with them, Alison Dos Santos, Dalilah Muhammad, Sydney MacLaughlin, Marileidy Paulino and Marco Arop, among many other outstanding athletes who participated in this event.

The host, four-time Olympic champion and world idol Michael Johnson, who was accompanied by none other than Asafa Powell and Justin Gatlin, was very happy and grateful to the athletes who will be the protagonists of this party.

“I am very excited, the athletes are very excited about this project that we have been working on for more than a year. We want to connect all the athletes who will race with their rivals, with the fans, in an event with a new, fresh and spectacular scheme,” said Michael Johnson.

“You will see fast races, but there will be different people winning different races. We will see the fastest people in the world. People at this event are not talking about breaking records or records, but about who is going to win these attractive duels that will take place on the track,” added the Olympic medalist.

Marileidy Paulino is one of the great figures of the Grand Slam Track. Prior to the conference she took the time to talk to Panam Sports.

“Thank God, she arrived very well. I find it a very interesting league. It is the first time I am in Jamaica and I am very excited,” said the Olympic Champion.

Regarding the duel with the American Gabby Thomas, Marileidy clarified that “I see it very normal. It will be very entertaining to face her. I used to be a 100 and 200 meters runner, so I am prepared for this challenge”,

Gabby Thomas, for her part, praised Marileidy before the race: “I think Paulino is one of the best athletes in the world, without a doubt, so I am very excited to be able to compete with her. I’m very excited about this duel, which will hopefully be the best for both of us.”

Gabby versus Marileidy in the most awaited duel of this first day of competitions of the Grand Slam Track in Jamaica.
