COMITE OLÍMPICO ARGENTINO CONFIRMA DELEGACIÓN QUE PARTICIPARÁ EN MILANO CORTINA 2026

The Argentine Olympic Committee (COA) has officially announced the list of athletes who will make up the Argentine delegation at the XXV Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026, comprising eight athletes who will compete in alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, and luge.

This will be Argentina’s largest delegation to the Winter Olympics since Turin 2006, when nine representatives participated. The Olympic event will also mark the return of the Winter Games to Europe after the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing editions, and will be the third time that Italy has hosted the premier winter sports event, after Cortina d’Ampezzo in 1956 and Turin in 2006.

Alpine skiing

In this discipline, the Argentine delegation will be made up of Francesca Baruzzi, Nicole Begue, and Tiziano Gravier.

Baruzzi, 27, from San Carlos de Bariloche, is one of the most experienced skiers on the team.

She made her Olympic debut in Beijing 2022, where she achieved two Top 30 finishes in giant slalom and super-G, and had previously competed in the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games, with an outstanding 10th place in slalom.

Begue, born in 2006 in the United States and with family roots in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, represented that country at the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games. The daughter of Gastón Begue—an Olympian in Albertville 1992 and Lillehammer 1994—she began representing Argentina in 2024 and will make her full Olympic debut with the national team in Milano Cortina 2026.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Gravier participated in the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games, where she stood out with a seventh place finish in super-G, and will make her debut at the Winter Olympics.

Cross-country skiing

The Argentine team will feature Agustina Groetzner, Nahiara Díaz González, Franco Dal Farra, and Mateo Sauma.

Groetzner, 22, also born in San Carlos de Bariloche, competed in Lausanne 2020 and will make her Winter Olympic debut.

Díaz González, from Caviahue, Neuquén, competed in her first Olympic Games at the age of just 18 in Beijing 2022, and four years later she will compete again in Milano Cortina 2026.

Dal Farra, 25, from Bariloche, will make his second consecutive Olympic appearance after his debut in Beijing 2022. His connection to cross-country skiing is a family affair: his mother, Inés Alder, and his uncle Guillermo were Olympians in Albertville 1992, while his brother Marco competed in Lillehammer 2016.

Sauma, 21, also from San Carlos de Bariloche, competed in the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games and will make his debut at the top winter Olympic event.

Luge

In luge, Argentina will be represented by Verónica Ravenna, the country’s top athlete in the discipline. Born in Buenos Aires and based in Whistler, Canada, since she was young, Ravenna, 27, will be competing in her third Winter Olympics, after participating in PyeongChang 2018 and Beijing 2022. In addition, she achieved an outstanding seventh place at the Lillehammer 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics will be held from February 6 to 22, 2026.
