We are just three days away from the start of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. This Friday, February 6, Milan’s San Siro Stadium will be decked out for a spectacular opening ceremony.
Mariah Carey, Andrea Bocelli, and Laura Pausini will headline the show, and Rebeca Andrade will be one of the Olympic flag bearers, among other highlights of this opening ceremony.
Milan, February 3rd. The streets, subway, airport, and public places in the city of Milan are slowly beginning to be decked out in the green colors representative of the Winter Olympics.
The arrival of delegations and officials is already evident in the Olympic Village and outside the competition venues.
The cold cuts deep into the bones, but human warmth and the Olympic spirit are beginning to warm the atmosphere.
We are just three days away from the start of this winter celebration with the Opening Ceremony, which will be unique in that, for the first time in history, two cauldrons will be lit simultaneously: at the San Siro Stadium in Milan and in Cortina d’Ampezzo. The latter, let us remember, was already the venue for an Olympic event in 1956.
For 2026, Italy has prepared a spectacular celebration to kick off Milano Cortina 2026.
In addition to the traditional parade of the 93 delegations, an artistic and cultural show is expected that will undoubtedly be the talk of the town.
The artists already confirmed are American music superstar Mariah Carey, renowned Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, and famous Italian singer Laura Pausini.
The organization has also confirmed the flag bearers who will have the mission of carrying the International Olympic Committee flag.
The International Olympic Committee selected a group of international personalities and inspirational figures to carry the Olympic flag during the ceremony, including Eliud Kipchoge, recognized as one of the best marathon runners in history, and Rebeca Andrade, double Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, and ambassador for Team Panam Sports. Joining them will be Pita Taufatofua of Tonga, Cindy Ngamba, boxer for the refugee team, and local figures Martina Valpecina and Franco Nones.
The show is designed around the theme of “Harmony,” celebrating Italian beauty, creativity, and values alongside Olympic ideals. There will also be a special tribute to iconic figures of Italian culture, such as designer Giorgio Armani.
The numbers for the opening ceremony are astonishing and help to convey the magnitude of this event, which will have the eyes of the whole world on it from February 6 to 22:
