WATERSKIING SUPERSTAR TO COMPETE AT SANTIAGO 2023

The United States aims to add more medals to its historical record in the sport at the Pan American Games.

The Pan American Games will be held for the first time in Laguna Los Morros, which is located on the outskirts of Santiago and has previously hosted Pan American and World waterskiing championships. Regina Jaquess from the USA (pictured) is without a doubt the standout athlete across all disciplines.

The winner of numerous Pan American and world medals will compete in slalom, jumping, overall, and figures. In the latter three categories, she won gold medals in Lima 2019.

In the men’s competition, Nathan Smith (33) of the United States is the clear favorite. A three-time world champion who was absent from Lima 2019 will compete in slalom, jumping, overall, and figures. In the slalom event, Robert Pigozzi from the Dominican Republic will seek to defend his gold medal from 2019.

In wakeboarding for both women and men, Argentina’s Eugenia De Armas (23) and Kai Ditsch (23) emerge as the top contenders. De Armas, ranked 4th in the World Wake Association (WWA) rankings, aims to defend her gold medal from the 2019 Pan American Games and showcase the level that led her to win the 2022 IWWF World Championship.

Ditsch, on the other hand, is ranked fifteenth in the world rankings of the WWA and has two medals from the South American Games: a gold from 2022 and a bronze from 2018. He has also competed in top international tournaments in the discipline.

The United States holds the most medals in this sport’s history, with a total of 60. Canada comes in second with 55 medals, and Argentina comes in third with 17 medals in the waterskiing and wakeboarding disciplines at the Pan American Games.
