WORLD’S TOP-RANKED RACQUETBALL STARS SHINE AT SANTIAGO 2023

The event will take place at the Racquet Center from October 21 to 26.

Racquetball is a sport that tests athletes’ agility and reaction time. It is played with a racquet and a lightweight rubber ball. Santiago 2023 will feature a lineup of the best players from the continent competing for a medal.

The star of the tournament will undoubtedly be Mexico’s Paola Longoria, who has been undefeated in the last three Pan American Games, winning a total of nine gold medals in individual, doubles, and team events. At Santiago 2023, Longoria will compete in mixed doubles for the first time instead of women’s doubles, but she still has the opportunity to keep her streak of three golds at each Games alive.

Another standout athlete is Bolivia’s Conrado Moscoso, who is currently ranked third in the world according to the International Racquetball Tour (IRT). He has competed in the Pan American Games since 2015, when he won a silver medal in men’s doubles in Toronto, but his best performance came in Lima in 2019, when he won a silver medal in men’s doubles and a gold medal in men’s team.

Mexico’s Rodrigo Montoya (in the photo) is another stellar participant; he is the world champion of the International Racquetball Federation. In the last Pan American Games, Lima 2019, he won a gold medal in singles and men’s doubles.

In the women’s discipline, Maria José Vargas stands out. She has represented Bolivia and Argentina and won silver medals in Lima 2019 with Bolivia and in Toronto 2015 with Argentina. At Santiago 2023, she will compete for the Argentine delegation in search of gold.
